Do you know that in response to this debt problem, and the growing need for good community servants, the government has a special offer for those college graduates who use their careers to aid the general public a 10-year loan forgiveness program. For example,Ā  after 10 years serving in a field of public service a student’s loans can be forgiven. These includeĀ  the military, social work, education, public safety, and some other fields outlined by the Department of Education. Once the 10 years have been served, the remaining portions of the student’s federal loans will be written off. However, until the 10-year period has been served, the student will have to continue paying the debt and this only applies to loans taken out or consolidated through the federal Direct Loan Program which means the money used for this program is coming directly from the government, not a bank or other lender.
